Blues Come from Behind to Win in OT

St Louis Blues players celebrate another playoff win over the Blackhawks

In a game that clearly illustrates why you never stop playing until the buzzer sounds, the Saint Louis Blues came out of a 3-2 deficit Saturday afternoon to ultimately defeat the Blackhawks 4-3 in overtime. Within a few stunning minutes, the Blues showed hockey fans that even when you're down, you're never out.

The victory put St Louis in a 2-0 series lead over Chicago, and put a serious dent in the Blackhawks' hopes for a second straight Stanley Cup win. In fact, after today's overtime loss, many sports handicappers have doubts that the Blackhawks have any chance to advance in the playoffs.

The Blues made the game into a full-on playoff experience that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end of the game. As the final seconds of the 3rd period ticked away, the Blues were still trailing the Blackhawks 3-2. All of that changed in an instant, when Vladamir Tarasenko scored a goal for the Blues with just 6.4 seconds left on the clock, sending the teams into overtime with a 3-3 tie.

St Louis carried their momentum with them into overtime, where Barret Jackman drove through traffic to score a decisive goal, giving the Blues a 4-3 overtime win. Adding more to the story is that this is the second consecutive game to have this result.

The Blues and Blackhawks will take the night off on Easter and will return for game three of the series Monday night at 7:30pm Central Time.

The Easter line up in the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs includes four games:

Flyers (6) vs Rangers (5) – 11:00am CT
Red Wings (8) vs Bruins (1) – 2:00pm CT
Lightning (3) vs Canadiens (4) – 6:00pm CT
Kings (6) vs Sharks (4) – 9:00pm CT
